TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Rosan P. Roeslani said the reinforcement of the total large-scale social restriction (PSBB) policy in Jakarta would put pressure on the industry.

“This is very challenging for the business world, on how to navigate, adapt, and innovate to survive and accelerate the growth even in the midst of pressure,” said Rosan during a national meeting of Kadin on Thursday, September 10.

However, Rosan reminded entrepreneurs to maintain optimism in order to stabilize the market. He believed that the government made decisions to formulate the national economic recovery program after collecting recommendations from various sectors.

“We appreciate measures taken by the government,” Rosan remarked.

Jakarta Governor on Wednesday evening, September 9, announced that the PSBB will be reimposed starting September 14, 2020, following the rising number of Covid-19 cases. Thus, offices, schools, prayer houses, and entertainment venues are forced to close.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that based on the government's evaluation, the highest virus transmission occurred in Jakarta, and 62 percent of the positive cases contracted from public transportation. Thus, he argued further policies were necessary to curb the spread of Covid-19.
