TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, on Friday has officially been appointed as Ad Interim Home Affairs Minister, replacing Tito Karnavian.

“The Home Affairs Minister will be on a working visit to Singapore from August 28 to August 30,” said State Secretariat Secretary, Setya Utama, to journalists on August 28.

Mahfud’s appointment is written in the Home Affairs Ministry’s Circular No. 821.1/4837/SJ.

Situations involving state ministers taking on two ministries have happened in the past, such as in 2019 where a number of state ministers stepped down from office as they were elected into the House of Representatives (DPR).
