TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian directorate-general of immigration announced on Wednesday that it will extend the visa application deadline for foreign nationals living in Indonesia. The government states in an official circular on Tuesday that foreigners are able to apply for visa extensions until September 20, 2020.

The circular states that the directorate general of immigration Jhoni Ginting specified the two criteria regarding the visa extension.

Firstly, applying for visa approvals and visitor’s permit visa will be due on September 20, 2020, for foreign nationals with visa on arrivals holders, APEC business travel card holders KPP APEC (ABTC), crew visit visa, and ‘emergency’ visa holders (ITKT).

Those planning to have their visa approved are encouraged to report to the immigration office within the deadline window.

Secondly, foreign nationals with tourist visa-free facilities, limited stay visa, or those with expired permanent stay permits - that can no longer be extended by law - and holders of emergency visa are required to file for approval in immigration offices before the deadline on September 20, 2020.

Moreover, the directorate general stated that foreign nationals that do not fit any of the above requirements will be handed fines.
