TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin confirmed that Fedrik Adhar, the prosecutor in the case of an attack on Novel Baswedan, had tested positive for Covid-19. However, when asked whether it was the virus that caused Fedrik's death, Burhanuddin did not answer.

Fedrik Adhar Syaripuddin was the public prosecutor for the Novel Baswedan acid attack case. Fedrik died on Monday morning, August 17, at Pondok Indah Bintaro Hospital.

Hari Setiyono, head of legal information center for the Attorney General's Office, said he was informed that Fedrik had diabetes-related complications. Fedrik is buried at the Jombang Ciputat Cemetary in South Tangerang.

The late prosecutor had come under public scrutiny when he said that the acid attack on Novel Baswedan was an accident or unintentional. It was on that basis that he only demanded the attackers, Ronny Bugis and Rahmat Kadir, one year of imprisonment.
