Prosecutor in Novel Baswedan Case Dies of Covid-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the North Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, I Made Sudarmawan, said that he had not received official information about the cause of death of prosecutor Fedrik Adhar. Fedrik, the prosecutor in the case of an attack on Novel Baswedan, reportedly died of Covid-19.
"Officially, I have not received information about the cause of his passing," Sudarmawan said in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 18. However, he said he knew that Fedrik's body was treated with Covid-19 protocols.
Fedrik Adhar Syaripuddin was the public prosecutor for the Novel Baswedan acid attack case. Fedrik died on Monday, August 17, at Pondok Indah Bintaro Hospital.
Sudarmawan said that Fedrik has diabetes and high blood pressure and that he often consulted with doctors. Before he died, the prosecutor had been working from home because of his deteriorating health.
Meanwhile, the North Jakarta District Attorney Office made an announcement through its social media account that they will be closed on August 18 and 19. The office will re-open on August 24.
