Netflix Partners with Nia Dinata, Hadrah Daeng Ratu for 2 Original Films

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Netflix has reportedly signed a deal on Thursday, August 13, with Starvision and Nia Dinata to produce two Indonesian original films, signaling the streaming platform’s long-term investment in Indonesia’s movie industry.
Both movies are scheduled to air on Netflix in 2021, Indonesia’s young director Hadrah Daeng Ratu is said to also direct one of the two films.
Myleeta Aga, Netflix director of content for Southeast Asia Australia and New Zealand, said in a statement that they are “excited to partner with Starvision and Kalyana Shira and to welcome Nia and Hadrah to Netflix.”
Aga also mentioned that both are talented Indonesian female filmmakers with passionate visions. The enthusiasm is also shared by Nia and Hadrah who are also equally excited about the projects.
The two movies will add to the Indonesian films that can be watched on Netflix, such as The Night Comes For Us, Love for Sale, Aruna dan Lidahnya, Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini, Imperfect, Humba Dreams, Semesta, and the newly announced, Guru-Guru GokIl.
