TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies (ASITA) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) chairperson, Abed Frans, on Tuesday said that international tourists have started to book vacations in NTT.

“They booked the vacation packages scheduled for the end of 2020,” said Abed Frans at Kupang on Tuesday.

The owner of tour company PT Flobamor Tours said that he himself had received 10 bookings. He also believes his fellow tour businesses have also started to take vacation bookings.

Frans explains that the destinations garnering the most number of visits are Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, and the Komodo National Park, due to the constant promotion through online platforms up to word-of-mouth marketing.

He hopes that the bookings that are starting to enter will be able to recover the tourism sector that has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Frans further explains that ASITA will constantly campaign for strict health protocols in the area’s tourism industry.
