TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - One of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations, Muhammadiyah, on Wednesday announced that it has sent the House of Representatives (DPR) an academic study regarding the Job Creation Omnibus Bill.

According to Busyro Muqoddas, Muhammadiyah’s head of law and human rights, the study shows the organization’s religious responsibility and commitment to national allegiance.

“The substantial fundamental is that Bill’s philosophy is really fragile and it contradicts the morality of [Indonesia’s] 1945 Constitution,” he said on Wednesday, July 15.

Busyro said that Muhammadiyah came to the conclusion after three meetings that involved nationwide experts in the field of law. He also said that the organization views the job creation Bill goes against the national Pancasila ideology and contains ideas or concepts that reflect constitutional defiance.

He believes the discussions Muhammadiyah held for the academic study had gone through rigorous democratic processes.

As of Wednesday, Muhammadiyah handed over the study to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. The organization hopes both the president and House of Representatives will eventually put a halt to the discussion regarding the Job Creation Omnibus Bill.
