TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry will soon publish a handbook to guide the sector on how to do business in the new normal era. The handbook will be given to business actors in the tourism and the creative economy sectors.

The ministry grouped the handbook into 12 sectors. "Hotels and lodging, restaurants, modes of transportation, tourist destinations, sports facilities and activities, beauty care services, creative economic services, as well as event and meeting services or MICE," said Kurleni Ukar, the ministry's deputy for Strategic Policy.

The handbook is made by taking into account important factors that are now a necessity for tourists in the face of a pandemic, which are cleanliness, health, safety, and the environment.

The ministry's acting deputy for Resources and Institutions, Frans Teguh, hopes the manual can guide industry actors. He stressed that the important things are for businesses and the public to conduct health protocols with strict discipline.

Meanwhile, Health Director-General Kirana Pritasari reminded the public that the coronavirus pandemic is not over yet, and there is no certainty on when a vaccine and a cure would be available. However, economic activities must resume.

Kirana said the world needs to focus on efforts to break the chain of transmission. Right now, the most effective way is by implementing health measures. "The key is to understand, obey, and discipline in implementing health protocols," she said.
