TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The chairman of the central executive board (DPP) of PDIP Party, Eriko Sotarduga, confirmed that President Joko Jokowi Widodo has not yet conveyed a plan of cabinet reshuffle to the coalition parties thus far. Previously, the state head asserted that he would not hesitate to restructure or reshuffle the cabinet.

“There has been no sign telling the party that there will be a reshuffle until now,” said Eriko when met in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 30.

According to him, the President would definitely talk to chairmen of the coalition party and invite them to a meeting should he plan to reshuffle the cabinet. “Until now, we have not seen it formally or informally,” Eriko added.

He acknowledged that the cabinet reshuffle is Jokowi’s prerogative rights as a president and positively deemed the latter’s reprimand to the ministers as a form of motivation.

Jokowi, Eriko opined, had his character in delivering messages, either aiming to reprimand or to lift the spirit. The President’s statement in a cabinet meeting on June 18 was reasonable to be conveyed, he added.

“That was his way to motivate the ministers, both from political parties or non-political parties. And we (PDIP) never dichotomize such things.”

On the other hand, Eriko assessed that a cabinet reshuffle is not a wrong move. In his first administration, Jokowi had even remodeled his cabinet four times. In his second term, Jokowi no longer had a burden as he would not have to conduct any campaign again.
