TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Papua Regional Police confirmed that four prisoners who were put under isolation for the new coronavirus disease or Covid-19 escaped from Bhayangkara Police Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, June 10.
Papua police spokesman Sr. Comr. Ahmad Mustoga Kamal said the four inmates are identified as HM, MW, IT, and M.
“They escape at 12:30 local times from Bhayangkara Hospital by breaking down the window bars of the hospital care rooms,” said the police on Wednesday, June 10.
According to Kamal, the police officers were still pursuing the escaped inmates. The families of the four prisoners are asked to report should they return home.
Kamal also lamented the escape as he feared the risk of the Covid-19 transmission to other people. “It’s unfortunate that the four prisoners manage to escape because they may infect others,” he said.
