TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The COVID-19 task force for the accelerated handling of the pandemic has allowed nine economic sectors to reopen businesses as the country enters a transitional period into the ‘new normal’ phase.

The sectors comprise mining, oil, industrial businesses, constructions, agriculture, farming, fisheries, logistics, and cargo services.

"We have considered the risks for infections that refers to a data-based indicator for public health, epidemiology, public health surveillance, and healthcare services,” said the head of the COVID-19 task force Doni Monardo on Friday, June 5.

Moreover, apart from the health assessments, the reopening of the nine sectors was heavily based on its effects on the nation’s workforces, Sectoral Gross Regional Domestic Product, and sector linkage index.

Doni Monardo believes that the nine sectors face low risk caused by the COVID-19 pandemic but are able to create broad work opportunities and significant economic effects.

He asserts that their operations will be under close monitoring by state-institutions, central task force, and public elements alike. Monardo assures that the business activities of these nine sectors will possibly face another temporary closure if found with new COVID-19 cases.
