TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Plans to implement a 'new normal' public order in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic continue to be prepared in a number of places, including within the presidential palace. Several aspects, from daily activities to state events held at the palace, will be adjusted under strict health protocols.

The standard procedure of a new normal policy will take effect in all state palaces, from Bogor, Jakarta, Tampaksiring, up to Yogyakarta. Adaptation of new habits will also be applied in the president's activities at the palace.

"For example, for an inauguration event, the number of officials allowed to be present is limited to 5 to 7 people," said the Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono in a written statement on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

As for ceremonies that usually take place in the palace's lawn will now be established virtually, such as one previously held to commemorate Pancasila Day on June 1.

Presidential Secretariat Deputy Head of Protocol, Press, and Media Bey Machmudin, added that the number of reporters that usually cover presidential events at the palace will be reduced with the help of streaming and TV and photo pool.

"The number is indeed limited. The vehicle's capacity for journalists will also be reduced from 10 to five passengers. Because it is a must, part of the health protocols [in a time of the new normal]," Bey said.
