Jokowi Calls for Better COVID-19 Data Management System

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday, June 4, called for stakeholders to improve the country’s COVID-19 data management and establish a system that can be used as a single reference prior to making decisions.
"As I stated in the meeting on Tuesday, a unified data management system must be fixed," the president said in Thursday’s meeting on the handling of the pandemic.
Jokowi noted that there should be real-time reports from laboratories, task force teams, and regional administration in a single source of data reference, which the president thinks is needed in the government’s policymaking.
"It would enable accurate and correct decision making. I ask that it should be able to be extracted from one source,” said Jokowi.
He also wants the government’s focus to be transferred to Indonesian regions with high infection rates. Currently, there are three provinces still battling a high number of COVID-19 infections such as East Java, South Sulawesi, and South Kalimantan.
