TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) has published a 44-page handbook as a comprehensive guide to halting the spread of COVID-19 in society.

“Live a clean and healthy life, protect your health, maintain physical distancing, wash hands regularly and stay at home,” the BPOM wrote in a digital book Tempo received in Jakarta on Monday, May 25, 2020.

The digital book contains 18 pieces of information on COVID-19, including methods to cease the spread of the disease through instructions such as washing hands with soap and running water for 20 seconds at minimum, cooking and reheating foods thoroughly, avoiding touching objects, and refraining from making physical contacts with others.

Some preventive measures at work environments, meanwhile, include averting social gatherings, observing one-meter physical distancing, ensuring sound air ventilation systems, using tissues to cover nose and mouth while spitting, coughing and sneezing.

The BPOM also called on the public to purchase medicines at official health service and pharmaceutical facilities and refer to doctor’s subscriptions when buying potent drugs.

Other information in the book include tips on food safety at restaurants and street vendors, online food purchase, and medicines related to the COVID-19.

The digital book can be downloaded on the BPOM’s official website.
