181 Indonesian Migrant Workers from Malaysia Return to Semarang

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On Friday, May 15, 181 Indonesian migrant workers or TKI arrived in Semarang from Malaysia. They reached The Port of Pelabuhan Tanjung Emas onboard the KM Dharma Rucita 9 that sailed off from Pontianak, West Kalimantan two days ago.

Tanjung Emas Port's Harbor Office and Port Authority chief Junaidi said that only two of the workers are from Central Java. The rest are from Lampung, West Nusa Tenggara Barat, West Java, and the most from East Java.

The TKI had traveled by road from Malaysia to Pontianak. "They left Pontianak on May 13," Junaidi said on Friday.

According to Junaidi, the migrant workers have obtained licenses and certificates including the required medical protocols.

Upon their arrival in Semarang, the TKI were mandated to have their body temperature checked by going through thermal scanners. Anyone who is ill will be given Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests and placed under quarantine.
