TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) decided to limit the flight frequency following crowds of passengers in Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Thursday, May 14. The CEO Muhammad Awaluddin said the frequency was decreased from seven to five flights per hour.

As reported earlier, the international airport’s terminal 2 was flocked by passengers since there were 13 flights in contiguous time. “The new policy is imposed starting today in Terminal 2 and Terminal 3,” he said in a statement on Friday, May 15.

According to Awaluddin, the airport recorded an average of 200 aircraft movements per day. AP II also re-managed the passenger queueing system into four posts, he added.

The first post set at the entrance gate of the terminal is for verifying documents of would-be passengers. In the second post, would-be passengers are asked to fill out a Health Alert Card (HAC) and an epidemiology form. Their body temperature will be checked as well.

Would-be passengers are also obliged to pass further screening in the third post. The officers of the port health office (KKP) will verify their doctor’s note declaring their health. The fourth post is for verification of all documents and check-ins.

Additionally, Awaluddin reiterated that each flight would only operate 50 percent of the total capacity as mandated in the Transportation Ministerial Regulation No. 18/2020. “To support the physical distancing,” he remarked, adding that AP II only opened two terminals in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, namely Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.
