TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Entrepreneur Sandiaga Uno revealed his career plan for the next five years in live streaming with Tempo on Saturday, May 9, saying that he would establish a start-up focusing on social-entrepreneurship within the 2024-2025 period.

"The start-up will focus on the youth unemployment," he said, mentioning that the number of jobless in Indonesia has the potential to increase due to the coronavirus crisis.

In addition, Sandiaga said he was starting a new business in the environment-based infrastructure sector. He viewed that this business also acts to support the green movement.

When asked about his political plans, the Gerindra politician admitted that he had yet to have any plan about it.

The businessman-turn-to-politician admitted that his background is an entrepreneur, instead of a politician. He, therefore, would contribute to focus on the sector he is in until today. “What I can do is to contribute to social entrepreneurship,” he said.

Sandiaga Uno first involved into the politics when he accompanied Anies Baswedan in Jakarta Gubernatorial election in 2017. The pair won the race against the rival ticket Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and Djarot Syaiful Hidayat. In 2019, he accompanied Prabowo Subianto in the presidential election but they lost against Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Ma’ruf Amin.
