TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Jakarta’s Kalideres Police raided a shophouse at Gading Kirana Shophouse Complex where dozens of kilograms of crystal meth or methamphetamine were being stored.

The illicit drugs allegedly would be distributed to Jakarta amid the enforcement of Large-scale Social Restriction (PSBB) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We managed to arrest three perpetrators," said Kalideres Police Chief Commissioner Indra Maulana when confirmed on Saturday, May 9.

He said the three were arrested in two different locations: two at the crime scene and one at MOI Apartment in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

The police are still calculating the exact amount of the crystal meth and examining the alleged perpetrators. "We’ll announce the result soon," Indra said.

He added that the meth owner was probably related to the international network. They allegedly took advantage of the current moment to distribute illegal drugs in Jakarta.
