TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National COVID-19 task force head Doni Monardo claimed that the new positive cases of coronavirus infection in Indonesia dipped by 11 percent.

“The pace of new cases has declined by 11 percent. But this doesn’t mean we can let our guard down,” said Doni in an online press conference after joining a meeting led by President Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Monday, May 4.

Doni reminded the public to stay vigilant as potential virus transmission remained possible. People are strongly advised to maintain physical distancing, wash hands with running water and soap frequently, and only leave home for urgent matters.

As of May 3, Indonesia saw 11,192 COVID-19 cases1,876 of which have recovered and 845 died. Meanwhile, 236,369 people are under monitoring (ODP) and 23,130 patients (PDP) are being monitored for possible positive cases.

Doni expressed his optimism that the number could be further suppressed if the public remained disciplined in following the protocols to prevent the further spread of the novel coronavirus and complying with the government’s order on mass exodus or mudik ban.
