TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto has approved the enactment of the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) policy, proposed by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa for Surabaya, Sidoarjo Regency and Gresik Regency.

"After a study by the technical team, we approved the proposal for PSBB in the City of Surabaya, Sidoarjo Regency, and Gresik Regency," Terawan said on the ministry's official website Tuesday, April 21.

The PSBB approval has been penned by Terawan through the Minister of Health Decree, numbered HK.01.07/ Menkes/ 264/2020, as the three proposed regions are considered to have fulfilled the criteria for the policy.

These criteria include the number of cases and/ or a number of deaths due to the pandemic that continues to increase and spread significantly and quickly to several regions, the existence of epidemiological links with similar outbreaks in other regions, and the readiness of local governments to carry out the restriction.

Thus far, Terawan has approved for the enactment of the PSBB in a number of areas, including Jakarta, Regency and City of Bekasi, City of Depok, Regency and City of Bogor in West Java Province; Regency and City of Tangerang, City of South Tangerang in Banten Province; Pekanbaru City in Riau Province, and Makassar City in South Sulawesi Province, amongst others
