Medical Staffs in Semarang Infected Tested Positive for Covid-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 46 medical staffs in dr. Kariadi Hospital in Semarang have been tested positive for Covid-19 infection. Some of the staffs are doctors of the government-owned hospital.

The infected medical staffs are currently put under isolation in Kesambi Hijau Hotel. "Yesterday I was contacted by the Head of Health Agency to prepare an isolation location and we have prepared it. They have been isolated at the location," said Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo on Thursday, April 16, 2020.

Ganjar said that the staffs are in good condition. "Based on the circulating video I had seen, they are well and in high-spirit. They are doctors, they know their own condition medically," Ganjar said.

Ganjar notified all hospital in Central Java to apply strict safety protocol. Ganjar claimed that the supply of personal protection equipment for medical staff in his region is adequate.

He also hoped that the medical staff who have been tested positive for Covid-19 infection can immediately recover. "Yesterday someone requested vitamins, we immediately deliver it to them," he said. "We will try to prepare the best for them."

Previously, a nurse in dr. Kariadi Hospital had died of Covid-19. The nurse has been buried at the dr Kariadi Hospital family cemetery in Bergota, Semarang.
