TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kalbe Farma director Sie Djohan said the company wishes to participate in the efforts to contain Covid-19. The company is ready to provide Rp25-billion worth of help in the form of 5,000 PCR testing at its KALGen InoLab laboratory.

To make PCR-based testing faster and more widely available, Indonesia's Covid-19 Task Force collaborates with Kalbe Farma to test specimens. The collaboration is through KALGen InoLab, the subsidiary of Kalbe Farma.

"PCR-based corona tests will be done in a number of referral hospitals in Jakarta for free," Sie Djohan said when launching the company's laboratory partnership with the Covid-19 Task Force in Jakarta, Thursday, April 16.

In addition to PCR testing, Kalbe Farma also helps with administering 10,000 rapid tests free of charge through telemedicine service Klikdokter.

The company also donates 20,000 of PPE to several hospitals across Indonesia, as well as medical masks, vitamins and medicines.

Meanwhile, the government's Covid-19 Task Force spokesman Achmad Yurianto said they will increase PCR-based testing capacity to 10,000 tests per day.
