TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national COVID-19 task force announced it had received public donations totaling Rp200 billion. The funds will be used to support medical treatment for positive patients and medical workers.

“Deep thanks and appreciation to the people of Indonesia whenever they are,” said the government’s spokesman for the coronavirus affairs at BNPB Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 15.

Other than for patients and medics, Yurianto said the funds will be distributed to people who were highly affected by the pandemic.

He further mentioned that some 22,000 people registered to the task force as volunteers. They would be tasked in various sectors related to pandemic handling.

“[The volunteers] have shown to the world that we have the spirit of mutual cooperation in dealing with COVID-19,” Yurianto remarked.

Based on the government data as of April 15, 2020, Indonesia recorded a total of 5,136 positive cases, 446 recoveries, and 469 death tolls. Besides, the number of people under monitoring (ODP) reached some 165,000 people, while patients under monitoring amounted to over 11,000.
