TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport's Angkasa Pura II branch has suspended the Skytrain from operating starting today until May 31. The decision is taken in a bid to prevent further outbreak of the new coronavirus by practicing physical distancing.

Febri Toga Simatupang, senior manager of branch communication & legal at the branch, said that the policy is in line with the Health Minister's Decree No.HK.01.07/Menkes/249/2020 on the implementation of large-scale social restriction in Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang City of Banten Province, in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.

"Starting Wednesday at 00:00, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Skytrain service will be suspended. As a substitute, transportation between terminals will be served using the shuttle bus," said Febri.

At Terminal 1, shuttle buses will serve passengers through Departure Terminal 1A from 05:00 to 23:54. At Terminal 2, the shuttle service is available at Gate 3 from 05:06 to 00:00. In Terminal 3, shuttle buses run from Departure Gate 3 between 05:18 and 00:02.

"The shuttle buses will serve passengers every 14 minutes whilst paying attention to physical distancing," Febri said.

Angkasa Pura II has also applied a minimum operation status at Soekarno-Hatta Airport beginning April 1, with 24-hour passenger service available only at terminals 1A, 2D, 2E, and 3.
