Govt Sets 3 More Towers at Wisma Atlet for Covid-19 Hospital

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry prepared three additional towers at Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital in Kemayoran to add Covid-19 patient rooms and provide a decent place for doctors and paramedics who work 24 hours in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

"The three additional towers are tower 2, 4, and 5 of the athletes’ dorm as Covid-19 Emergency Hospital," said the ministry’s director-general of housing Khalawi AH in a written statement on Thursday, April 9.

He explained that Tower 2 will be utilized as the flats for doctors and paramedics who work 24 hours at the hospital. It has 24 levels with 886 units.

Meanwhile, tower 4 and 5 at Block D-10 will be used as additional quarantine and patient rooms. Each tower has the same capacity of 886 units. "We expect the preparation of the three towers for Covid-19 emergency hospital will complete next week on Saturday, April 18," Khalawi said.

Previously, the ministry had set 4 towers at Kemayoran Athlete Village that has been operational since March 23 to handle Covid-19 patients with light condition.

The four towers are tower 1, 3, 6 and 7 at Block D-10. There are 247 staffs at Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital which include doctors, paramedics, and non-paramedics.
