IDI Mobilizes 2,500 Young Health Workers to Fight COVID-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The East Jakarta administration will gradually mobilize 2,500 young healthcare workers in the city’s fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The additional health workers will be tasked at a number of East Jakarta healthcare service centers.
“Because the young generation has a better immune system,” said the Indonesian Doctor’s Association (IDI) COVID-19 task force, Tedy Harto on Thursday.
Tedy further said that the additional people will depend on the situation in the field and could see more of the young health workers mobilized if deemed necessary.
Meanwhile, the area’s mayor, M. Anwar announced separately that the region has prepared isolation facilities for residents affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) that are located, among others, at the Hajj dormitory, Haji Pinang Ranti Hospital, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), and the BLK job training center.
The IDI already confirmed the readiness of 4,000 healthcare workers to handle the treatment of coronavirus patients in East Jakarta.
