TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In collaboration with international advocacy organization Global Citizen, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the 'One World: Together at Home' global broadcast, airing on Saturday 12:00 a.m. GMT, April 18, 2020.

'One World: Together at Home' is a specially curated broadcast, geared to support the medical personnel all over the world, working in the frontlines of the novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the broadcast will also be a platform for the global audience to donate to the WHO's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

“The World Health Organization is committed to defeating the coronavirus pandemic with science and public health measures, and supporting the health workers who are on the frontlines of the response,” said WHO Director General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, as quoted from the WHO’s official website, on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

In their support of medical personnel, 'One World: Together At Home' will include real stories and experiences of doctors, nurses and families around the world combatting the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the global tele-cast will also publicize stories and the efforts of local charities that continue to provide shelter and food for victims of the pandemic.

Curated in collaboration with international musician Lady Gaga, the broadcast will feature a number of artists, comedians and musicians from different countries and different backgrounds.

“We may have to be apart physically for a while, but we can still come together virtually to enjoy great music. The 'One World: Together At Home' concert represents a powerful show of solidarity against a common threat,” continued Dr. Tedros.

Ranging from current musicians such as Grammy winner Billie Eilish and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to household names such as David Beckham, and British pop legends, Paul McCartney and Elton John; the global broadcast will be hosted by late night hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert.

Furthermore, the multi-hour program will also broadcast opera singer Andrea Bocelli from heavily impacted Italy and positive COVID-19 patient, British actor Idris Elba, on streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo and YouTube.

The WHO and Global Citizen have previously organized a number of musical performances through the program ‘Together at Home’, geared to fundraise donation for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The online series has previously broadcasted performances from renowned pop musicians such as Shawn Mendes, Camilla Cabello and Niall Horan.

The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund is an international fund organized by the WHO, aimed to assist in the procurement of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) and other medical devices, for medical personnels fighting the pandemic worldwide.
