50,000 COVID-19 Test Kits from S. Korea to Arrive on Sunday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Garuda Indonesia plane carrying some 50,000 COVID-19 test kits from South Korea is scheduled to land at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Sunday. Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea Umar Hadi said.

"Today, April 5, 2020, the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul in cooperation with Garuda Indonesia delivered assistance of 50,000 polymerase chain reaction diagnostic kits from LG Electronics, LG Chem, LG Innotek, and LG International to the Indonesian government ," Umar said in a short message text on Sunday.

LG Group is a multinational company engaged in electronic and technological fields. Established in 1947, the company based in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, South Korea, has branches and subsidiaries in more than 80 countries including Indonesia.

"The assistance of PCR diagnostic kits is a manifestation of LG Group's contribution to the Indonesian government's efforts to fight the COVID-19 outbreak. LG Group has so far coordinated closely with the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul in preparing the model and method of delivering assistance to Indonesia," he said.

PCR, popularly known as swab test, is one of the methods of checking the coronavirus or COVID-19 by taking swab samples from the respiratory tract .

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Indonesia rose by 105 to 2,092 on Saturday (April 4) compared to the day before, with 150 patients recovering and 191 others dying of the disease, the government spokesman for COVID-19 handling Achmad Yurianto said.
