TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Many people have been limiting outdoor activities following the WHO and the government's appeal to staying home and social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. People have been working, studying, or exercising mainly at home.

It is important that we get enough sunlight, as it can stimulate the production of vitamin D and improve blood circulation. Additionally, warmth under the sun makes people feel healthy and nice.

As recommended by WHO, the followings are four tips to enjoy the sun safely:

1. Limit sun exposure
Spend no more than 30 minutes under the sun every day to get a healthy dose of vitamin D without potentially getting sunburn.

2. Avoid the sun during its peak
Expose your body to the sun in the morning or afternoon. As reported by healthline.com, sun exposure could release serotonin that suppresses depression.

3. Use sunscreen
Applying sunscreen is necessary every time you go under direct sunlight to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays. Remember to limit your time under the sun and reapply sunscreen as suggested in the instructions.

4. Wear protection
Before going under the sun, people are recommended to wear a hat and breathable clothes that cover the shoulders, chest, stomach, and areas sensitive to direct exposure.
