TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, representing House legislators, conveyed her condolences through her Instagram account @puanmaharani following the passing of Sudjiatmi Notomihardjo, President Jokowi’s mother.
"My entire family and DPR legislators offer our deepest condolences for the passing of ibu Sudjiatmi Notomihardjo,” said the House Speaker in her Instagram post on Wednesday night, March 25.
According to Puan, Jokowi’s mother was a role model for modesty, which she said was rightfully copied by the President himself.
”Her smile and kindness will always be remembered,” Puan wrote.
The first elected Indonesian female House Speaker asked the public to pray for Jokowi’s mother and support the grieving family.
Sudjiatmi Notomihardjo died at the age of 77 at Slamet Riyadi Army Hospital in Solo on Wednesday, March 25, after battling with cancer for the past four years.
