TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's SOE Minister Erick Thohir continues to look for buildings that can be temporarily used as emergency hospitals for Covid-19 patients. The government plans to have at least one in every province, for example by using hajj dormitories.

"We were ordered by Mr. Erick Thohir to look [for places] in several provinces. What Jakarta is doing will be done in other provinces as well," the SOE Ministry's special staff Arya Sinulingga said in a live broadcast at the BNPB building, Tuesday, March 24.

Arya said the ministry is working with the Religious Affairs Ministry, so that it would be possible to turn hajj dormitories into temporary emergency hospitals.

Hajj dorms, he said, can take in a lot of people and are located in many districts and provinces.

If this plan can push through, the ministry will start the execution with the help of SOEs.

In four days, the government converts the Kemayoran Athlete's Dormitory into an emergency hospital to treat patients with Covid-19 symptoms.

The government is preparing some 3,000 rooms for the patients.
