TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is to disburse US$350 million funds for Indonesia this week. Following the House of Representatives (DPR)’s approval of the Money Laundering Bill , ADB executive board members are in the process of disbursing funds. Jusuf Anwar, the ADB Executive Director for Cook and Fiji islands, Indonesia, Kyrgystan Republic, New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga made this statement to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon (18/6) after having a meeting with Indonesian Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti and Minister of Finance Budiono. According to Anwar, the meeting was aimed at giving ADB executive board members details of the reform process in Indonesia. ”We discussed the political will of the government as the ADB considers the governance element is very important. As well as eradicating poverty, the ADB is also committed to enforce good corporate governance,” he said. The ADB considers that the reform process in Indonesia has progressed on the right track. It is also optimistic about the measures that have been taken by the government in carrying out reforms in the upcoming years. The ADB will also disburse another US$380 million, consisting of US$200 million from the ADB and US$180 million from Japan International Banking Corporation (JIBC), should the discussion on Law Draft on Electricity be settled.
