Metro Jaya Police Denies Rumor of Coronavirus Infection

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Metro Jaya Police spokesman Sr. Commr. Yusri Yunus denied claims that a member of the police department had been infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19). He asserted that the member in question did, in fact, undergo coronavirus testing but came out negative.
Yusri said that the member in question conducted the test at the Kramatjati Police Hospital as a safety precaution after receiving information that a neighbour where the member lived had shown symptoms similar to COVID-19 infection.
However, Yusri said that the neighbor did not contract the virus, neither did the relatives of the member in question.
"After medical checks, the neighbor had suffered from dengue fever, [the neighbor] also tested negative for coronavirus," said Yusri. "Thankfully, up until this moment, no police personnel from the Metro Jaya Police had contracted the coronavirus."
The Metro Jaya Police Spokesman said that the Metro Jaya Police headquarters is constantly and regularly sterilized with disinfectants.
Referring to the Jakarta government's official website on coronavirus updates, corona.jakarta.go.id, the number of positive cases has risen to 309 with 25 deaths and 15 successful recoveries.
