TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the COVID-19 task force, Doni Monardo, said that the rapid coronavirus testing will target specific groups of people which focuses on those with the history of making contact with positive cases of COVID-19 transmission.

“The goal is the entire population in general, but mainly on those who have a history of physical contact with patients who tested positive for the coronavirus. This is our main priority,” said Doni in a virtual press conference on Thursday, March 19.

He said that the people that will be chosen to undergo the rapid coronavirus testing will be determined by a medical team that consists of military medical personnel, police medics, and the medics from the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

“It will be difficult to undergo rapid testing for everyone. We have a population of 270 million people,” he said.

The COVID-19 task force is yet to confirm how many medical kits would be needed to conduct the tests. He also did not specifically mention that it would use imported medical kits and only said that Indonesia will follow suit with the equipment already used by China, South Korea, and Japan.
