TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Indonesia, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo strongly advised members of the public to work from home, which includes state-ministers.

This was evident today as the president held a virtual meeting “[The video conference call] started at 10-am and is still ongoing,” said Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung to journalists today.

The meeting discussing economic acceleration in facing the pressure created by the coronavirus crisis was participated by the president himself along with VP Ma’ruf Amin, and 41 Cabinet members.

President Jokowi previously made a national announcement on Sunday, March 15, 2020, calling people to stay productive and avert from panicking. His announcement came just one day after Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi was tested positive for coronavirus.

“This condition [forces us] to conduct work and study from home and conduct prayers at home. This is the time we must work hand-in-hand together in making this a national community movement to quickly solve this issue,” said President Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Sunday, March 15.
