TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s Aviation Security (Avsec) announced the cause of death of 48-year old Singaporean Sharifuddin bin Ismail at the airport’s Terminal 2 F on Sunday, March 8, was due to a cranial fracture and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Previously reported, Head of the airport’s Health Office Anas Ma'ruf assured that his death is not related to the coronavirus outbreak.

Avsec chief commissioner Alexander Yuriko cited the official report on the man’s death; “The victim was pronounced dead on arrival due to open fracture and cranial head injury,” said Alexander on Tuesday, March 10.

Sharifuddin was a passenger onboard Scoot Air that was destined for Singapore and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta’s Terminal 2 on Sunday at 17:30 Indonesia Western Time (WIB). He immediately walked to Terminal 2F Gate 5.

According to Alexander, a witness identified as Sarnubi saw the victim suddenly passing out and collapsed to the floor. The witness along with security personnel rushed Sharifuddin to the airport’s medical facility (KKP) to receive first aid. However, Sharifuddin was already unconscious at the time.

Sharifuddin was then taken to the Soekarno-Hatta health clinic and received medical treatment from Dr. Tantie Nurlaelie. Unfortunately, Sharifuddin remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead. His body was then flown to Singapore after the deceased’s family requested no autopsy.
