TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Singaporean national reportedly died after falling at Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Sunday, March 8.

The international airport office head, Anas Ma'ruf, said that a 48-year-old Singaporean identified as Sh bin I was a would-be passenger of Scoot Air. “He died at Terminal 2F on Sunday at around 6 p.m.," Anas said on Monday, March 9.

Anas clarified that the death was not related to the coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak.

Anas recalled that the man suddenly died on his way to the entrance of the Security Gate 5 Terminal 2F. “He was helped by the MSA doctor, then we called the airport doctor from the main office. By the time the doctor arrived, he had died,” he said.

Based on the testimony of several witnesses at the site, Anas said, the man suddenly fell with his head hitting the floor. “The doctor suspected the cause of death was bleeding in the head. There was also a fracture of the head bone caused by the fall.”

The family, Anas went on, said that the man complained of having a headache. “No history of fever, coughs, or breathing difficulties,” he added.

As widely reported, Singapore was dealing with the novel coronavirus outbreak. As of March 9 at 12 p.m. local time, the Singapore Ministry of Health announced a total of 160 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 infection and 3 more cases (Cases 112, 138 and 151) had fully recovered and been discharged from hospital, bringing the total number to 93.
