TEMPO.CO, Batam - Singapore government released yet another four confirmed cases of the coronavirus or COVID-19 as of 12 p.m., March 1, through its official page www.gov.sg. Among the cases, two Singaporean nationals tested positive for the virus after returning from Batam.

As quoted from the site, a 37-year-old female (Case 103) and a 25-year-old female Myanmar national (Case 104) who were infected by the virus had never traveled to China, the virus epicenter, Daegu and Cheongdo City of South Korea, but had been in Batam, Indonesia.

Nevertheless, the 37yo female is a family member of Case 93 and is linked to Case 101, while the Myanmar female national is a migrant worker employed by Case 103.

The Head of Batam Health Agency Didi Kusmarjadi confirmed the two patients had been in Batam before both were declared of having contracted the China virus by the Singaporean authorities. “They were not tested positive in Batam,” Didi told Tempo on Monday, March 2.

According to Didi, the two did not develop symptoms of the coronavirus when entering Batam. They traveled back to Singapore on Feb. 23 and started to show the symptoms on Feb. 26. “On Feb. 29, they were tested positive. They visited Batam for traveling only,” Didi added.

As of March 1, 2020, Singapore recorded a total of 74 people had been fully cured and discharged from hospital.
