TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The flood on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, North Jakarta have receded on Monday morning.

"The receding may be near dawn because of last night there still floodwater as high as an adult's shank," a resident named Tri said at the location Monday, February 24, 2020.

But the sign of the flooding is still visible on the land beside the road separating from the flow of the Sunter River. Next to it, wet mud was visible on the sidewalks and bus stops. The undersides of the trees in that area are also wet after being flooded.

According to Tri, that area is often flooded when heavy rain occurs.

North Jakarta Police Precinct Chief of Traffic (Kasatlantas) AKBP Slamet Widodo also said that water puddles always occur on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan after heavy rain. Although inundated, four or two-wheeled vehicles can still pass that road.

Slamet said that yesterday the water level reached 30-40 cm. Floods began to soak the road since Sunday morning at 04:00 West Indonesian Time (WIB). "From 04:00 morning, the inundation is approximately 50-70 cm. Then at mid-day it has started to recede 40-50 cm, now it is around 30-40 cm," Slamet said when met in North Jakarta, Sunday, February 23, 2020.
