TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) is having an internal discussion on their export plan to Australia. This is a follow-up on the ratification of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA).

The agreement is an opportunity to boost the exports of Indonesia's leading products; including vehicles. Through the IE-CEPA ini, Australia agreed to eliminate the import duty imposed on Indonesian goods from the previous 5 percent.

"The IA CEPA matter is being discussed," HPM director for business innovation, sales and marketing, Yusak Billy, told Bisnis.com, Sunday, February 16.

Meanwhile, Gaikindo said that Indonesia's top-five brands in terms of sales have expressed interests in exports to Australia, which has a market potential of 1.4 million units per year.

Referring to Gaikindo's data from 2019, the brands with the biggest sales were Toyota Astra Motor (331,797 units), Astra Daihatsu Motor (177,284), Honda Prospect Motor (137,339 units), Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (119,011 units), and Suzuki Indomobil sales (100,383 units).
