Parent to Return Son to Wuhan Following All Clear

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Aprilia, parent of Yusuf Azhar, an Indonesian student studying in Wuhan University, said that she will return Yusuf to Wuhan if the city has been declared clear of coronavirus infection, also known as COVID-19.

"[Yusuf] will return later if the conditions there have recovered," said Aprilia who have been waiting for her son to arrive at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport on Saturday, February 15, 2020. Yusuf is one of the Indonesians subjected to the quarantine measures and observation in Natuna.

Aprilia said that when the coronavirus infection spreads, her son's studies had already entered holiday period. Aprilia added that when the studies resumed, Yusuf continue to take classes online. "He receives tasks online," Aprilia said. She added that her son has been declared healthy by the team of doctors that had examined him.

Aprilia explained that during the isolation in Wuhan, Yusuf managed to communicate with the families clearly. However, Yusuf was nont allowed to leave the city because all travel access have been blocked. "They only stayed in their room and not allowed to go out. The continue to be observed," Aprilia said.

The Health Ministry previously repatriated 238 Indonesian citizens and one foreign citizen previously quarantined and observed in Natuna. They were quarantined after the Indonesian government evacuated its citizens from China on Febryary 2, 2020, to avoid the coronavirus infection.
