TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) said the government needs to compile data on the profiles of women and children who joined ISIS. Komnas HAM Commissioner Amiruddin Al Rahab said the data must include their role and involvement in the terrorist group.

"Everyone must be profiled, so we can see the degrees of their involvement in the crime of terrorism," Amiruddin told Tempo in Depok, Thursday, February 13.

The data, he said, will be able to determine which laws and regulations the ISIS supporters can be charged with.

"There is no need to discuss whether the women should be repatriated or not. These people are not TKI [migrant workers]. These are people who voluntarily [joined a group] to commit crime and act of terror. Never forget that," he stated firmly.

He suggested the Foreign Affairs Ministry play an active role in compiling the profiles of the ISIS supporters—collaborating with the Kurd government if necessary.

After that, he said, these people would have to face the law, so that the victims and families of terror can get their deserved justice.

According to Amir, as a member of the UN's security forces, Indonesia can push for the implementation of international law to international forums; fighting for the establishment of an international supreme court to try all ex ISIS members.

He called on the government to proactively encourage this mechanism so that Indonesia will "emerge as a champion in fighting terrorist crimes."
