Today's Weather Forecast, BMKG: Rain and Lightning in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Weather forecasts issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) mentioned that Jakarta will, again, be showered by rain accompanied by lightning, thunder and strong winds today, Wednesday 5th of February 2020.

“Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning, thunder and strong winds in short durations in the West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta regions in the afternoon and evening," warned BMKG on their website.

Furthermore, BMKG predicted that Jakarta will be shrouded in clouds in the morning. Continuing on, rain will flush some areas in Jakarta on Wednesday noon. Two areas that are predicted to experience light rain since morning are North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands. On top of that, rain is expected to still fall by night, in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta and East Jakarta.

A number of areas around Jakarta, namely: Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi are also predicted to experience moderate to heavy rains. "Beware of moderate to heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and lightning in the areas of Bogor, Karawang, Bekasi, Subang, Bandung, Depok, Indramayu from noon until night," claimed BMKG.

Previously, BMKG has stated that the current rainy season would enter its peak in the period of February to March.
