TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 44-year old Indonesian migrant worker in Singapore has reportedly become the country’s 21st novel coronavirus case and marks the first confirmed Indonesian national to be infected by the virus outbreak.

According to Tuesday’s Channel News Asia report, the 44-year old maid fell ill on Sunday, February 2, and was admitted to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) the following day.

This is corroborated by the official Singapore government report stating one Indonesian national in a confirmed Wuhan novel coronavirus case.

“Case 21 is a female Indonesian national. She is a foreign domestic worker, whose employer is Case 19,” said the Singapore government website www.gov.sg on February 4.

The Singapore government’s website also explained that Case 19 and 20 are Singapore residents who both work at a shop where they had prolonged interactions with travelers from China. At least two of these travelers had since been confirmed with the 2019-nCoV infection.

Up to this day, Singapore has reported 24 confirmed cases of the 2019-nCoV infection, which includes 4 confirmed human-to-human infections.
