TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto will temporarily work from Natuna Island, Riau Islands, until the quarantine period of repatriated Indonesians from China is complete. The Indonesian government executed the repatriation due to rising concerns of the increasingly concerning coronavirus outbreak.
“Until they return home,” said Terawan after attending today’s hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) on handling the coronavirus outbreak of Wuhan, China. “I am responsible as I am the Health Minister.”
Terawan said he had accompanied the Indonesians from Wuhan up to their arrivals on Natuna. “I was with them since its preparations up to their arrivals.”
On February 4, 2020, the Health Minister is set to depart back to Natuna to establish a makeshift office as he deems it more accessible to monitor the development of the repatriated Indonesians. He said that the ministry must concentrate on helping the quarantined Indonesians get through their period on Natuna.
Indonesians were evacuated from China after the coronavirus that originated from China’s Province of Wuhan seemingly claimed more lives to date.
