TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Indonesian Motorsports Association (IMI) Sadikin Aksa, announced that representatives from the FIA will visit Jakarta’s national monument (Monas) by the end of January as the location is slated to host a Formula E race weekend.

"The FIA at the end of this month will conduct a field inspection together with the IMI. Designers and contractors will also be there," said Sadikin to Tempo on Thursday, January 9, 2020.

Immediately following the inspection, Sadikin said that the race course for the Formula E cars will be established, which will cover areas in the East, West, North, and South Medan Merdeka. This perimeter is home to the Indonesian State Palace and government offices.

"The construction of the track will take three months," he said. "Only one lane [in the Monas perimeter] will be closed from the public during the construction. We are attempting to not affect the flow of traffic there," he added.

Jakarta is set to host the 10th race in Formula E's 13 race calendar in the 2020 season. The date is set for June 6th, 2020. A city government official has stated that the online petition rejecting the race will not hamper its execution.
