TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police Chief Nana Sudjana will form a task force to deal with bad weather in the city as predicted by Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in January.

The members are from various agencies. "The task force consists of Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), police, armed forces, and related agencies," said Nana in Kemayoran, North Jakarta on Friday, January 10, 2020.

The task force will anticipate potential disasters due to heavy rain. Nana explained that the unit also needs a small team to assist and evacuate residents when a disaster comes.

"We will conduct a patrol," said the Jakarta Police Chief.

BMKG predicted that heavy rain will occur in Jakarta on January 9-12, and it will lead to floods.

However, the upcoming rain forecasted by BMKG will not as extreme as what happened at the beginning of the year and the previous week that triggered the flooding.

Besides, Nana said the task force will also build health posts to accommodate the victims. The posts will be placed in the disaster areas.
