TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the government will build three new airports in Tenjo, Teluknaga, and Pandeglang, Banten Province. It aims to support Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng.
“There are three airports that will be developed. One is the airport around Tenjo, the second one in Teluknaga, and the third is in Pandeglang,” said Budi Karya in the Office of the Vice president, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
Several airports will be developed to help support the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Budi Karya said the readiness to build the new airport is to meet the mobility of the growing community.
“So, this is a collaboration. Imagine Jakarta in 2045, we have to prepare the airports as alternatives. In the developed countries, the amount of the airport can be up to six, so we are preparing from now on,” he explained.
The construction of several new airports in Banten Province was the request of the Vice president Ma'ruf Amin for development in Tangerang. “Mr. Ma'ruf asked us to represent the transportation development in Banten because the region is a capital's satellite city so we should give more attention,” said Budi Karya.
