Jokowi Launches 30% Biodiesel Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi launched the implementation of the 30-percent Biodiesel Program or B30 in Jakarta, Monday, December 23.

Attending the event were a number of his ministers including Energy Minister Arifin Tasrif and SOE Minister Erick Thohir, as well as Pertamina CEO Nicke Widyawati and Chief Commissioner Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.

The launch was held at a Pertamina gas station in Jalan MT Haryono, South Jakarta.

Increasing CPO portion in biodiesel from 20 percent to 30 percent has been one of Jokowi's major agendas during his presidency. Eventually, biofuel will contain 50 percent CPO, or aptly named B50.

For the implementation of the B30 program in 2020, the government has issued the Energy Minister's Decree No.227K/10/MEM/2019 on the Test for Mixing 30 percent Biodiesel (B30) into BBN Solar. Energy Minister Arifin Tasrif signed the decree on November 15.
